I Am Innocent Of This Man's Blood

Matthew 27: 24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"

Do you know anyone who thinks they don’t sin?  Or maybe they think they do not sin very much so really do not need much help for being saved. Maybe they can take care of that salvation thing with just a few good deeds and slide into heaven safe?  In their mind, Jesus really did not need to die for them.  They think that it was just unnecessary.  You might even know someone following a bunch of rules to reach heaven.  Or maybe perhaps you know someone that thinks they can enter paradise another, and more violent way.  Friends the perspectives that are out there are just plain scary. The supposed paths to salvation are in fact paths to hell.  They may be paved with good intentions, but the end result is the same, hell.

The simple truth is the blood of Jesus in on their hands, on my hands, and on your hands. The difference for you and I is that we know we are forgiven. We have been washed in the blood of Christ.  Our sins are forgiven. We are redeemed. The death Jesus died He died once for all.  Those who are confused and seek to find redemption via a different path still carry the stain of His blood. When we reach out in love to share the love of Christ, we offer those who are stained the opportunity to be cleansed. It’s important friends that we reach out. Do you know someone you can reach out to?

Prayer:  Father, we are truly blessed by the blood of the lamb.  The sacrifice on the cross to pay the price we were, and still are unable to pay is humbling. For that we are eternally grateful. Help us to share that good news with others and to keep that lesson close to our own hearts today and every day. We offer this prayer in the name of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, Amen.
